The dream photography session

On Valentine’s day, I did a photography session with my Grandparents. Now I may be biased but it was one of my favourite photography sessions of all time. It wasn’t only because I love them dearly but because I was able to capture the decades of love they have for each other.

My Grandad is the whole reason I began photography so photographing him was an honour but also intimidating. He started the foundations of my photography career so I wanted to impress him, of course.

We shot at a lovely country park, by a lake and it was everything I envisioned. My grandparents regularly visit nature reserves and lakes for walks and picnics so this setting just felt right.

I, of course, wanted beautiful imagery of my grandparents to keep but I wanted to provide a service for them also. I wanted them to have a couple of hours that were solely focused on both of them and their love. My goal was to capture those silly moments, the loving looks and give them time together to reminisce on their beautiful life together.

We tend to see older couples with so many pictures from when they were young but as they gradually grow old together those timeless images become very few and far between. But why? In my eyes, love gets more beautiful as we age and that’s exactly what these images represent.

My mission with these photo sessions is to create elegant and timeless images to last a lifetime. Imagery = memories and there is nothing more important than memories.

These sessions are the perfect gift and are available to book. You can enquire via email at alishajoephotography@gmail.com
