My first ever wedding photography experience was at 16 and it’s all because of my grandad. My grandad is a wedding photographer and a huge part of my life. Back then it was a way to spend time with him – I honestly didn’t think much of photography as a career. Fast forward 6 years and a pointless degree in Crime and Investigation later, I’m a wedding photographer and I still sometimes shoot alongside my grandad.

So why wedding photography when I have a degree in something so different? Well, I’ve always loved photography. I love capturing moments and making them visible memories to keep forever. Joe and I bought a camera to take pictures of each other and our dog, Hurley but we didn’t expect an influx of queries about our availability and prices. That is when Alisha Joe Photography was born – creating timeless, effortless imagery for wildly in love couples to treasure for the rest of their lives.

After deciding I wanted to be a wedding photographer, Emma and Kirsty kindly trusted me to capture their special day. The pressure was on! Their wedding has been postponed several times (like many others I know) due to the dreaded Covid-19 – but as they say, good things come to those who wait. Their wedding was beautiful, fun-filled, and just an all-around awesome day. For my first “proper” wedding, I surprised myself. I loved the images and thankfully, so did Emma and Kirsty. I was over the moon; I captured their beautiful day that they’d waited so long for whilst experiencing all the love and excitement from their friends and family. It was that day I realised this is what I was meant to do and follow in my grandads’ footsteps.
